Privacy Policy
Plain-language privacy and data use
TestYourBrowser™ runs diagnostics in your browser and collects a small amount of supporting analytics so we can keep the tests reliable. We do not fingerprint users or store raw IP addresses.
What we collect
- Session-scoped IDs stored in sessionStorage (cleared when the tab closes)
- Page views and tool usage (page path, timestamp, device/browser/OS strings)
- Capability scores and error states to improve test coverage
- Approximate country, derived from edge network headers—no IP stored
Cookies and storage
- We do not set marketing cookies.
- Some analytics scripts may set first-party cookies for traffic measurement; you can block them with your browser's tracking protection or a content blocker.
- Tests may use sessionStorage/localStorage to run (for example, to store a session-scoped ID). Clearing site data removes these entries.
What we do not collect
- No canvas, WebGL, or font fingerprinting
- No recordings of form fields, mic, camera, or local files
- No raw IP storage or cross-site tracking profiles
Data retention
First-party analytics events are stored without IP addresses and are purged on a rolling 90-day window. Any third-party analytics used by TestYourBrowser™ retain data according to their own policies; we disable user-level identifiers where possible.
Your choices
You can block analytics scripts with built-in tracking protection or content blockers, disable JavaScript, or run a self-hosted build of TestYourBrowser™ with analytics disabled. Clearing site data removes session IDs.
